Develop knowledge, skills and confidence to respond to a medical emergency in a remote or wilderness setting.

This 4-session training takes place over two weekends (April 6 & 7 and April 13 & 14). Participants must participate in all four sessions.

Instructor: Bill Caples is a retired firefighter/EMT with real life experience in administering and teaching first aid and CPR. Bill will bring his actual   
experiences to this class and provide valuable preparedness tips.

Topics Include:

• Protecting yourself• Musculoskeletal injuries
• Moving and lifting• Extended injury management
• Scene assessment, Initial Assessment, Secondary Assessment• Altered mental status
• Shock• Breathing difficulty
• Control of bleeding• Abdominal problems
• Major wounds• Poisoning
• Facial injuries• Heat and cold emergencies
• Dressing wounds• Submersion, Lighting Strikes, Altitude Sickness
• Burns • How to prepare a first aid kit
• Head, neck and back injuries 

Participants must attend all four class meetings.
