October is Resilience Month

This October, communities across the Olympic Peninsula will come together for Resilience Month, a celebration of connection, healing, learning, and cultural expression.
Beyond the YMCA’s brick and mortar buildings, the Y is about building connective bridges too. Since 2023, the YMCA has been in a sponsor-relationship with the Clallam Resilience Project, sharing a common purpose and enabling its work to progress.
Led by the Clallam Resilience Project, a network of over 50 local organizations, Resilience Month highlights the vital role of community support in building individual and collective well-being. Events throughout the month focus on arts, culture, education, and social connection, helping to “tip the scales” toward positive outcomes for children, families, and communities.
“Research shows that strong, supportive relationships are key to resilience,” says Minnie Whalen, Director of the Clallam Resilience Project. “But we can't expect better outcomes for kids without building systems that prioritize those relationships. Resilience Month gives us the opportunity to celebrate and strengthen the great work already happening here.”
