Junior Camp Counselor

Children's and teens’ future success is fostered by caring adults who make them feel loved, competent, happy and healthy today. That’s why Y staff and volunteers are also mentors and role models, sharing a part of this very important—but very inspiring—responsibility in helping youth realize who they are and what they are capable of achieving.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a Summer Camp Counselor at the YMCA?

We are looking for fun, creative and caring young adults between the ages of 13-16 to volunteer to work side-by-side with YMCA Camp Counselors. Registration is open May 1 until June 14, 2019.

If you think you can help to supervise campers, assist with camp activities and learn to be a positive role model then come down to the YMCA of Port Angeles or YMCA of Jefferson County and complete a volunteer packet or download it below. The summer-long program concentrates on leadership training, volunteerism, team building, skill development, service to camp and personal growth. Throughout the summer we will witness profound transformations, from camper to counselor, as these kids gain confidence and independence.

Becoming a Junior Camp Counselor is for campers who have demonstrated responsibility, maturity and an interest in learning how to take more of a leadership role at camp.
