Keeping Our Communities Safe & Healthy: All Olympic Peninsula YMCA Facilities Closed Until Further Notice

At the Olympic Peninsula YMCA, the safety and well-being of our members, staff, volunteers and the broader community have always been and will always be a top priority.

At this time, all Olympic Peninsula YMCA facilities remain closed. This includes the YMCA of Sequim, YMCA of Port Angeles, and YMCA of Jefferson County. We do not know when we will be able to re-open, but we do know indoor gyms and pools can re-open at less than 50% capacity during Phase 3 of Governor Inslee's plan to re-open the economy. As soon as we know when we can safely re-open, we will be sure to let our members and community know.

All classes, programs, and events remain cancelled until further notice. We understand closing our facilities and cancellation of our programs is an inconvenience for members and program participants, but we feel it is a necessary precaution for the health and safety of our members & guests. We thank you for your support and patience at this time.

We have been diligently monitoring the developments surrounding COVID-19 (coronavirus) and our region is in a continuous state of change during this unprecedented time. Now more than ever, the Y is working hard to maintain the programs and services our community relies on to provide and meet emerging needs as they arise.

As a dedicated member and supporter, thank you for staying with us during these challenging times. You are a part of our effort to support the entire community during this very challenging and unprecedented time. As a charitable organization, we humbly ask that you continue to pay your membership dues and consider it a contribution to protect our community during this time of uncertainty. While we cannot serve you in person, we are working diligently to provide alternative virtual resources to ensure that your health and wellness continue to be supported.

In the last few months since our facilities have been closed, we have been providing these services to members like you and the community:

  • Keeping members active by sending them online workout videos every other day they can do at home. We are continuing to look into other virtual fitness opportunities we can offer our members while our facilities are closed.
  • Checking in with as many members as possible weekly to make sure they have the resources they need at home during this time to stay healthy and well.
  • Providing office space to school counselors for essential work with students
  • Providing childcare to families in need at Dry Creek Elementary School in Port Angeles giving priority to first responders and medical professionals.

Membership dues as Charitable Contributions
Now more than ever, we are in need of financial support so that we can continue serving you and our community. You can continue to support the Y by making a donation or you can notify us that you would like your membership dues to be considered a charitable contribution while you are unable to access the Y.

Membership Holds—We are hoping that you will stay with us, but understand if you need to place your membership on hold. Under normal circumstances, holds are a courtesy for members who are experiencing a short-term illness or who are leaving the area for an extended period of time. We will be modifying our policy based on the Governor’s mandated closure and will honor members’ requests to place their memberships on hold.

Please follow live updates of our facility closures on our website at or check our Facebook pages for more information throughout the week. If you are in need of resources or know someone in need of resources, please let us know and we will do our best to help. Additionally, we encourage you to regularly check the CDC’s website for important updates and safety information.

We will keep you updated on the status of our facilities via email, our Facebook pages, and our website. If you have any questions about membership, please email:
