Instructor

Category: Child Development
Location: Jefferson County

Job Type: Part-Time

An instructor is responsible for the enjoyment, welfare, safety, and character development of youth involved in all Youth Development Programs (Pre- K, After The Bell, Summer Day Camp and Teen Programs). Instructors will teach engaging classes that are age appropriate in the following areas; sports/fitness, art, team building, nutrition, and academics, among others, according to their skill set. The instructor may transport children to and from the YMCA using a Y vehicle, with training. Instructors will maintain YMCA rules and standards. Instructors will communicate regularly with his/her supervisor about progress of class, supplies needed and other related information.

HOURS:
Monday through Friday
2:00 pm-6:00 pm
Occasional Wednesdays
11:30 am-6:00 pm
10-15 hours per week

Jefferson County: Chimacum Elementary, Mountain View Commons and Fort Worden

 

Kitchen and Food Delivery Aide

Category: Youth Programs
Location: Jefferson County

Job Type: Seasonal

The Kitchen and Food Delivery Aide is responsible for assisting the Food Coordinator and kitchen volunteers in preparation of food, kitchen clean up, and delivery of food coolers. Individual must have valid driver’s license and insured, reliable transportation. Individual must have good communication and time management skills, be able to take direction, be comfortable in a busy, kitchen environment and be able to work as a team with volunteers and other staff members.The individual hired will assist in preparing and packing summer snacks and lunches in the Chimacum school kitchen and do light cleaning/organizing of the kitchen space as directed by the Food Coordinator on site. The Aide will also deliver food coolers to Port Townsend and run errands as needed, daily from June 26 - August 25, 2017.

HOURS:
Monday through Friday
7:45 am-12:45 pm in Chimacum
Start Date: June 19, 2017
End Date: August 25, 2017

 

Lead Lifeguard

The Lead Lifeguard works under the supervision of the Lifeguard Coordinator and assists with the supervision and coordination of lifeguards. All lifeguards are responsible for the safety of all patrons in and around the pool area and creates a safe and positive atmosphere.

Literacy Coordinator

Job Type: Seasonal

Literacy Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing literacy and classroom activities countywide June 19 through September 1, 2017, according to grant guidelines. Must interface with school staff, Y staff and volunteers and follow all grant reporting requirements. Activities must be developmentally appropriate and support literacy. Individual must have previous experience teaching children ages 5-14 in large group situations. Good organization, communication and leadership skills are a must. Individual must be able to interact with children and adults, supervise activities to ensure safety, manage volunteers and work as a team with other staff members.

The individual hired will be responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising literacy and classroom activities in Jefferson County at multiple sites in Port Townsend, Chimacum, Quilcene and Brinnon, from Mid-June through the end of August. Pre-program planning, data tracking, and reporting required. Recruitment, training and coordination of activity and literacy volunteers prior to program start date.

HOURS:
Monday through Friday, rotating at 4 East Jefferson County sites
Hours will vary 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

Program Services Representative

Program Services Representative (PSR) staff are responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the office and general business support systems. Specific duties include, but are not limited to greeting and assisting the public; managing and directing all incoming calls, ensure timely and accurate processing of program applications and registrations, able to take cash, check and credit card payments all while providing exceptional customer service.  Multi-tasking skills and an attention to detail are required.  Basic computer skills are necessary, as well as the ability to type a minimum of 45 wpm. PSR’s must be able to demonstrate the values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all dealings with guests, volunteers and fellow staff.

Site Aide

The Site Aide is responsible for assisting the Site Leader in distribution of food and delivery of activities. Individual must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for Port Townsend position. Individual must have previous experience working with children ages 5-14, good communication skills, be able to interact with children and adults, supervise activities to ensure safety and be able to work as a team with volunteers and other staff members.The individual hired will assist in food distribution and/or literacy and enrichment activities, from June 19, 2017 through September 1, 2017, at one of the following sites:

  • Chimacum Elementary, Chimacum
  • Jefferson County Library, Chimacum
  • Mountain View Commons, Port Townsend
  • Jefferson County Recreation Center, Port Townsend

Site Leader

The Site Leader is responsible for food distribution according to USDA standards, volunteer coordination at site and the planning and implementation of activities that include enrichment and physical activities. Individual must have previous experience working with children ages 5-14, good communication and leadership skills, be able to interact with children and adults, supervise activities to ensure safety and be able to work as a team with volunteers and other staff members. The individual hired will be responsible for food distribution and literacy and enrichment activities, June 26 through August 25, at one of multiple sites in Brinnon, Chimacum, or Quilcene.
*Pre-program planning to begin as early as May 30th

Sports Coordinator

Job Type: Part-Time

We are looking for a strong team leader with great communication skills. Good computer skills and experience with budget planning and tracking needed. Under the direction of the CEO or Branch Manager, the Sports Coordinator will provide day-to-day direction, supervision and coordination of different sports programs during the year.  This position develops, plans and administers all new/existing programs, applies procedures and methods to achieve our strategic goals and participant engagement.  Coordinator will work closely with staff and volunteers responsible for implementing all program components. All programs will operate in a quality manner consistent with YMCA guidelines, will be aligned with the Y’s cause and meet the needs of our members and the community. Seasonal sports programs are basketball, soccer, t-ball, football, golf and creative movement.

HOURS:
25 – 30 hours per week

must be available days, evenings and Saturdays

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for volunteer recruitment and training, as well as day-to-day direction, supervision and coordination of assigned program(s). Work closely with staff and volunteers responsible for implementing all program components and ensure program(s) operate in a quality manner consistent with YMCA guidelines. Individual must have previous experience working with volunteers of all ages, as well as good communication and leadership skills.Provide pre-planning and volunteer recruitment, as well as day-to-day direction, supervision and coordination of assigned program. Work closely with staff and volunteers responsible for implementing all program components. Ensure program operates in a quality manner consistent with YMCA guidelines. Program is Mid-June through August.

Wellness Center Coach

Job Type: Part-Time

Fitness experience and training required. Wellness center coaches are responsible for aiding participants in achieving their well-being goals in group or individual settings as indicated by the Health & Well-Being Coordinator. They will instruct members and guests in the safe and effective use of a wide variety of cardio and fitness equipment, monitor orderly operation of the wellness center, and enforce wellness center rules. Having superb relationship skills, attention to detail and follow-through are required. Basic computer skills are also necessary. A wellness center coach should be self motivated and able to complete daily cleaning task. A wellness center coach should also serve as a champion of healthy lifestyles.

Monday through Friday
9:00 am-1:00 pm
